What steps should I follow to extend the life of gift-wrapped bouquets from Braer?

When you receive a gift-wrapped bouquet, it’s important to remove the decorative paper wrapping. However, leave the binding that holds the bouquet together intact to preserve the florist's carefully designed shape. After giving the stems a 2-3cm angled cut and placing them in water, be sure to periodically clean your vase, change the water, and trim the stems every two to three days. Remove any flowers or leaves showing signs of aging.

What’s the recommended care routine for vase arrangements from Braer?

To maintain the shape of vase arrangements, regularly replace the vase water and trim the stems at an angle every two to three days. When the stems are out of the vase, use string to hold them together and preserve the arrangement's form. After cleaning the vase and snipping the stems, return them to fresh water, and eliminate any withered flower heads or leaves from the bouquet.

How should I care for native Australian flowers and handle particular stem types such as woody, hollow, and hairy stems?

Many native Australian flowers are highly thirsty and require frequent water top-ups. For woody stems, make a vertical cut up the stem rather than struggling with scissors. Hollow-stemmed flowers, like jonquils, daffodils, dahlias, and delphinium, may benefit from straight cuts, but ensure the stem end isn't completely flat on the bottom of the vase to allow water uptake. For hairy-stemmed flowers such as Gerberas and Poppies, limit water depth to no more than 6cm.
