Since 2017, Braer has had the honour of housing the work of Noosa-based ceramicist Angus McDairmid of Pãn Pottery. Drawn to the quiet strength and elemental grounding of his practice, we are continually inspired by the integrity of his forms and the generosity that informs their making. McDairmid’s work is deeply tied to place, formed from hand-dug clays of the local landscape, wood-fired in traditional kilns, and glazed through natural ash deposits that settle and fuse in the alchemy of flame. Each vessel carries the memory of earth and fire.
In 2023, our collaboration culminated in Pots for Flowers—an exhibition and collection of vessels created in dialogue with floral design and ikebana. The forms, developed through an ongoing exchange between potter and florist, respond to ideas of proportion, negative space, referencing classic containers for Ikebana. Designed to support the ephemeral nature of flowers, these vessels function not just as containers but as sculptural frameworks—anchoring impermanence in grounded, enduring form.
These are not simply objects of function, but works that elevate the everyday, honour the handmade, and offer a quiet invitation to live with intention.
